Eco-Thermal Half-Day + Wai Ariki Private Sanctuary Experience

Discover Rotorua. Unwind in Luxury.

Quick Details

Experience the very best of Rotorua’s geothermal wonders before unwinding with a luxurious spa experience at Wai Ariki Hot Springs & Spa.

This half-day tour departs central Rotorua daily between 8:00 AM and 8:30 AM and returns at approximately 1:00 PM. Complimentary pickups are available from central Rotorua accommodation, the Rotorua Bus Station and the Rotorua i-SITE.

Travel through picturesque farmland and native forest to the geothermal heart of New Zealand. Your local naturalist guide will provide fascinating insights into Rotorua’s unique volcanic landscape, geothermal activity and natural history throughout the journey.

Your first stop is Wai-O-Tapu Thermal Wonderland, home to colourful silica terraces, vibrant hot springs, New Zealand’s largest boiling mud pool and the spectacular Lady Knox Geyser, which erupts daily at 10:15 AM.

The journey continues to Waimangu Volcanic Valley, the world’s youngest geothermal system. As you explore this remarkable landscape, your guide will explain how the 1886 Mount Tarawera eruption transformed the valley into one of New Zealand’s most significant geothermal and ecological reserves.

To complete your day, relax with a 45-minute private bathing experience at Wai Ariki Hot Springs & Spa, where contemporary luxury meets Māori-inspired wellness. Soak in your own private mineral pool overlooking Lake Rotorua and enjoy the perfect way to unwind after a morning of exploration.

Please note: Spa sessions are typically scheduled later in the afternoon. Guests are responsible for making their own way to Wai Ariki at their allocated booking time. Guests wishing to visit the spa immediately after the tour can be dropped off at Wai Ariki; however, return transport is not included.

Please note that shared tours operate with pickups from central Rotorua only. Pickups outside the Rotorua urban area, including Tauranga, Auckland and out-of-town lodges, are not available for this shared departure.
